The Apple Vision Pro may have seemed expensive at $3,500, but it's nothing compared to the golden version, which costs a staggering $39,000.
Apple recently announced the launch of its VR/AR headset, the Apple Vision Pro, set to hit the market in early 2024. The price tag was not unexpected, given the high-tech features of the device, such as the M1 and specially developed R1 chips, which provide an almost latency-free view into physical reality. The headset has a glass and metal design, which gives it a sleek and luxurious feel, but also makes it heavy, weighing over 500 grams.
Luxury goods manufacturer, Caviar, known for its gold-plated Apple products, has unveiled a limited edition golden version of the Apple Vision Pro. At $39,000, the headset comes with 1.5 kilograms of 18-karat gold and a Conolly leather head strap. The golden version is a bargain compared to Caviar's previous offerings, such as the gold and diamond-covered iPhone, which cost $120,000.
The Golden Vision Pro is a showpiece, with only 24 available for purchase, and a delivery date set for the end of 2024. It weighs two kilograms, 800 grams more than the Pimax Crystal, so users may need a strong neck or a VR headset mount, such as the one on Meta's Starburst prototype. The headset also features a flip-up visor for more privacy, ideal for those who do not want their eyes exposed to EyeSight technology.
