Meta Quest 2: Drill Holes For Better Ventilation?

Some Quest 2 VR users have been discussing whether drilling holes in the headset can improve its ventilation and prevent it from getting too warm. One Reddit user, Apeci, shared photos of his own solution, the "OcuFlow 3000,"

which features several small holes on the front and two larger openings on the top. However, an engineer pointed out that this modification may not be very effective, as dust could enter the device through the additional openings and impair the intended air circulation. Additionally, the Quest 2 should not overheat during normal use, as it is designed to run at half load to avoid overheating.

Apeci and another user who also drilled holes into their headsets have reported success, but it's important to note that this modification may void the warranty and potentially damage the device.

While some users may find drilling holes to be a solution to overheating during high-resolution PCVR use, it's not a recommended method as it can be detrimental to the device's long-term cooling performance.
